Yunika, Shinjuku City Sign Agreement on Emergency Broadcasting
Yunika Corp. and the city of Shinjuku (Mayor: Kenichi Yoshizumi) have signed an agreement regarding the use of Yunika Vision for emergency broadcasts in the event of a large-scale earthquake or other natural disasters, to provide information to people in the vicinity of Shinjuku Station.
In the event of a large-scale earthquake, or an earthquake that hits Tokyo directly, many people are expected to be stranded in Shinjuku Station, resulting in confusion and disorder among those who are unable to leave the vicinity.
Yunika had already been conducting trial broadcasts together with the Shinjuku Area Disaster Prevention Council, made up of businesses and universities in the city and nearby areas, as part of emergency response training aimed at dealing with stranded commuters.
Utilizing its experience from these exercises, Yunika has agreed with Shinjuku that it will provide emergency information, as necessary, during disasters.
It has also agreed that it will broadcast in four languages: Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.
Yunika will also continue to work with the city of Shinjuku to come up with easy-to-understand emergency broadcast content and to create more effective ways to disseminate information in times of disaster.
